Building An Alley & Industrial Parking Lot For The Yard!
10:22 Leave the dent as it since I seen older hoppers with damaged ladders.
Dan off the wall question. What kind of desk do you have for your workbench. This drawers are really nice
That is an IKEA bench! The drawers as well!
Scaletrains announced a new run of tunnel motors recently with a couple Rio Grande numbers
I am currently kit bashing a athearn blue box tunnel motor with cannon cab and 3D printed parts to model Rio Grande SD40T-2 5389 so only 2 digits removed from yours! I am doing it in the 90s era so ditch lights and removed nose gyralight. I also loved the tunnel motors and saw a movie of them when I was a kid. I am also making a SP one, 8496 as well as a Morrison Knudsen MK5000C for a friend. Thanks for the great inspiration as always Dan. Been following you for years and you made me want to to weather models all those years ago.
thanks always great job
Why is it everybody has to say they’re sorry for not posting a video. Do it on your own time?

Wow Dan you did a very good job on the weathering on the freight cars 100 out of 100 👍
Great modeling.
Great update Dan. The Cook Ind / INTX hopper is amazing. Growing up in upstate NY cool to see the D&H cars too! Always look forward to your videos.
You do a VERY good job Dan. 💪
You forgot to link your Ebay in the description.
dan is to weathering HO scale cars what michael jordan is to basketball
You mean he does amazing stuff, then throws it at a hoop ten feet off the ground?
The older you get the faster it goes!
1:03 good doggie!
Great build Dan. Why did you omit the patched out reporting marks under the bay window?
Great video on your creative process thanks for sharing - new to the hobby. New sub
oh i like this technique... thanks for posting...
Phenomenal tutorial! * subscribed *
Kinda looks like an old ex-Southern hopper i did. Great work
My toxic trait is thinking i can achieve this in one sitting....
Anita's was my fav but they went out of business or rebranded. Any thoughts on what other brand to use? Apple Barrel doesn't seem to have the same assortment especially with the rusty colors.
Wonder what brand you're using now that Anita's is gone? So many of the paints are horrible. The more expensive tubes etc aren't good for weathering. Too wet, oily...not the same dry look.
Your work has given me a lot of inspiration. Any chance for a 40 or 50ft box car weathering? Apologies if already done and I’ve missed it. Keep it coming 😊
Thought the hopper was real from the thumbnail
Beautiful job, on your cars. A very long time ago, I worked very briefly for a company that made those replacement hatch covers. Here’s something to think about. They made them out of fiberglass (they switched to aluminum, last I heard) so they won’t rust, and the gel coat is the color you see, and a part of the hatch cover, not just a coating. They will only fade, instead of the weathering we’re used to. Also, something I’ve noticed on railroads that had other color schemes (BNSF was a frequently seen prototype), a car might have two different colored hatch covers on it. I like your techniques, I’ve never been an artist, certainly not enough to try to develop my own technique on a 30 dollar car. Appreciate you sharing your videos.
Unbelievable work, my jaw dropped. Im inspired to try to do this to my rolling stock
do you work on others locomotives
Nice work on that car..
Dan, at 9:00, that's a model of the REGX 6740 cu. ft. trash gondola. Where did you get them? No one to my knowledge makes them.
Scratchbuilt!
@@DansRailroad2011 Good job on them. It would be cool to see them squeezed in a future video. I see these particular ones occasionally mixed in with the 6400's here in New Jersey.
Love the fading away effect. Will try this for sure 👍
Spent countless afternoons back in the day at Pine Junction - watching Conrail, CSX, and "The J" with my best Rail-Fan friends. We'd gather from all over the Midwest and would chase trains all over Chicago. But we always finished the afternoon / evening at Pine Junction. Hell, I even got a cab ride in a CSX Dash 8 from there once. Sadly, a couple of those friends have now passed on. The location was the site of so many great memories, that one friend requested to have their ashes scattered at Pine Junction. We'd even sometimes venture over to the derelict Gary Union Station to explore. I have some awesome photos of the interior before it got too bad. That area was / is a true Train-watching gem. The railroads might have changed a bit - but I'm glad to see that another generation of Rail-fans are finding it as enjoyable as we did. Love your videos Dan!!! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the lesson.
Where'd u get Those SwitchStand Levers? Where & For how much?
Dan, your hand keeps getting in the way. Makes it difficult to see what you're doing.
I know, I am working on trying to get a better angle for shots to prevent this.
Oh I would love to see this train video at 35scale mph at least
Great work.
Wow awesome job!
Happy birthday! AEX has a bunch of 5701s: approximate number ranges 8500-8749, 8913-8960, 9043-9158 and possibly others.
Sick Rio Grande unit! Nice seeing the Old D&H hoppers too. Happy Birthday!
Hi Dan Happy Birthday. When you sell what seller name do you use on Ebay ? And do you do custom work ?
Link's in the description.
Nice update Dan. The weathering on the locomotive came out awesome. I especially like the full see through grill effect.
